A Windy, March Day @ Edison Gardens!

God often shows up when you least expect Him. That’s what He did this afternoon at Edison Gardens.

What happens when you take a room full of kids, and four volunteers, for a walk to the park? With that group of kids, you also bring two big kites, several small ones, two jump ropes, a flying disc and a football. Along with all of that, you bring a sunny and windy early spring day. What do you get? An unforgettable afternoon!

Many things that we take for granted have never been experienced by inner city kids. Only one child that went with us had ever flown a kite. Despite tangled kite string, we got the kites to fly high in the air! The kids loved it. The volunteers loved it even more.

Spring is a time for newness--new experiences, new tulips and new friends. We had a new friend with us this afternoon. She was new to many of the kids that are new to Edison Gardens since she was last with us. She has an amazing way of getting kids to open up and talk with her. We are blessed to have you back, Sarah!
